Paver Work for Homeowner in Del Sur
The Problem
A homeowner in Del Sur had some paver work done by another vendor, and it was not done correctly. There was a large 1″ gap between the garage floor and the last row of pavers. They filled it with Grey Polymeric sand but the gap was to wide so the sand broke down and became soft. Her heal sunk into the gap and she almost fell. The rest of the pavers moved over time and the joint sand fell through or washed out.
The Solution
She called McKowski’s to see what could be done to correct the problem.
We removed approximately 2′ x 16′ of driveway pavers, graded and leveled the base, cleaned and reset the pavers. The gap between the garage floor and the last row of pavers was filled with portland cement, almost to the level of the garage floor and then a thin layer of Tan Polymeric sand was added for aesthetics. We applied polymeric sand the rest of the pavers, vibrated them and reapplied until the sand stopped sinking into the joints. Once the excess sand was removed, we applied water to activate the hardening agent in the sand.
The Result
The safety issue was resolved, and the pavers look great.
